Subject: MONITOR RESULTS
The eighth and final step in our Eight
Simple Steps to Life, True Success and Happiness is MONITOR
RESULTS.
Whenever we set goals, aims or objectives,
we must follow up to see what we have done and how we are getting on.
My experience with people in general is that
they set out their goals but do not monitor their results.
Many sales people do that. They have a lot
of names of companies to ring to make appointments, but they don't then
work out what their success rate is. i.e. 50 calls = 5 appointments. That
means 10 : 1 - 10 calls = 1 appointment. If they are not happy with the
number of appointments they are getting then they must make more telephone
calls. 100 phone calls means 10 appointments. So, go over everything you
should be doing in your daily activity list to ensure that you are meeting
your goals.
So finally, the eight steps are:
1. Personal Alone Time -
take time to think
2. Values and principles -
a compass for our lives
3. Dreams and visions -
take time to dream, hitching your wagon to a star
4. Mission and purpose -
why you are here, do something worthwhile don't just take up a space
5. Goals - something to
aim at. Where you are going
6. Plan of action - How to
accomplish those goals
7. Daily activity list -
what you do day by day
8. Monitor results - see
how you have done
If I can help you with any of these, please
do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
I hope that you enjoyed my e-letters and

Subject: A DAILY ACTIVITY LIST
The seventh step in our Eight
Simple Steps to Life, True Success and Happiness is A
DAILY ACTIVITY LIST
Success is achieved by what we do with each
day, every day, not by one great burst of activity. You can eat an
elephant - if you take it one bite at a time. By the yard, its hard. By
the inch, it's a cinch. Its what we do with each day that makes all the
difference. Make a daily list of all the things you want to get done in
that day. Give them a category according to how urgent they are, such as:
- - things which must be
done today without fail
- - things which should be
done today, but could wait until tomorrow if necessary
- - things which it would
be good to get done today, but are not vital
Your list could be something like this:
- 1. Must phone Joe Bloggs
2. Must get report done for Fred
- 1. Find time for exercise
2. Read new technical brochure
- 1. Draft next month's presentation
2. Buy toothpaste on way home
Make sure that your daily activity list
includes all areas of your life, so that at some time during the week your
list includes items connected with your family, health, mental
development, finances, spiritual, leisure and social life, as well as your
career.
The seven steps so far are:-
- Personal Alone Time
- Values and Principles
- Dreams and Visions
- Mission and Purpose
- Goals
- Plan of Action
- Daily Activity List
If I can help you with any of these, please
do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
I hope that you will continue to look

Subject: A PLAN OF ACTION
The sixth step in our Eight
Simple Steps to Life, True Success and Happiness is A
PLAN OF ACTION.
A plan of action should begin with
visualising the outcome you want. In 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,
Stephen Covey states - 'start with the end in mind'. Start with a focus of
what outcome you want.
If you want a fantastic life, what would
that life be like? You can be, you can do, you can have anything you want
in life. It is all there inside, you just have to pull it out. It is
there, believe me.
All you have to do is to use the steps in
Goal Setting given last month, and focus in particular on how this goal
will be achieved.
Use all the other areas you have had so far
to help you:-
- Take time to think - PAT
- a source of power
- Values and principles - a
compass to show you the way
- Dreams and visions -
hitching your wagon to a star
- Mission - purpose - your
reason for being on this planet
- Goals - stepping stones
to achieving your dreams.
But make sure you go over all of the above
steps. In taking time to think, make an appointment with yourself to think
it all out, go back to the first step and ask yourself what it is you
really want from life and work it out using your goal setting formula.
If you need any help just call, write, fax
or e mail.
I hope that you will continue to look
forward to my free monthly e-letter and that you will benefit from it. If
you cannot wait - why not 'phone me now - I will be happy to talk with you
and explain my concepts - there's no charge! If you prefer not to receive

Subject: GOALS AND HOW TO SET THEM
The fifth step in our Eight
Simple Steps to Life, True Success and Happiness is GOALS.
If we don’t know where we are going, how
do we know when we get there?
The majority of people do not have goals,
they just seem to let things happen. Those who do have goals usually only
set them for work. We should have goals in all areas of our lives. The key
to true success and happiness is LIVING A BALANCED LIFE (Dr.Mortimer
Addler: Editor-in-Chief, Encyclopaedia Britannica).
How do we create a balanced life? Its
simple, have aims and objectives in all areas of life. In my book “Successful
Living”, the areas are:-
- Family Health
- Education/mental
development
- Career/work
- Finances
- Spiritual/ethical
- Recreation/leisure
- Social/community
Get any one of these areas out of balance
with the rest, and you could have problems. We need to have, set and
achieve goals in every area of our life.
Goals could be regarded as stepping stones
on the way to achieving our dreams. I believe that the most important
question to ask oneself is ”What do I want from life, and will the goals
I have set help me to achieve it?”
I believe the best way to set goals is to
write down the answers to the following questions:
- Define what it is you
want
- What does it mean to you
to achieve that goal
- What will it mean to you
if you do not achieve the goal
- What obstacles will you
need to overcome
- Extra skills and
knowledge you need to acquire
- Other people who can help
- How will the goal be
fulfilled
- Completion date
To sum up so far, we have now covered five
of the eight steps to success:
1. Take time to think – PAT – a source
of power
2. Values and principles – a compass to
show you the way
3. Dreams and visions – hitching your
wagon to a star
4. Mission and purpose – your reason for
being on this planet
5. Goals – stepping stones to achieving
your dreams.
If you feel you would like help with any of
these areas, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
I hope that you will continue to look
forward to my free monthly e-letter and that you will benefit from it. If
you cannot wait - why not 'phone me now - I will be happy to talk with you
and explain my concepts - there's no charge! If you prefer not to receive

Subject: IDEAS ON HOW TO VISUALISE YOUR MISSION AND PURPOSE
Last month I shared the 3rd step of Eight
Simple Steps to Life, True Success and Happiness.
The fourth step is Mission
and Purpose.
Let me give you an example: A man went up to
two bricklayers and asked them what they were doing. One replied ‘I am
building a wall’. The other replied ‘ I am building a Cathedral’.
From Stephen Covey’s book titled 7 Habits
of highly Effective People, habit 2 is begin with the end in mind.
Visualise what you want in life in your mind’s eye, and work backwards
from that vision. Write out what you want and set it as a mission and
purpose statement.
What do you want your work to be like?
What type of fitness do you want?
Most people, when asked what they want from
life answer ‘I want to be happy’.
The people who are the happiest have their
minds fixed on something other than their own happiness. Mother Theresa
was a person who found happiness by focusing on other people’s
happiness.
Your mission and purpose statement comes out
of your goals, your aims and objectives in life. It is very important that
your statement is based on the personal values and principles that you
lead your life by.
Your mission statement can be very powerful.
It can help you achieve whatever you want out of life. It won’t be easy
– you may need help to compile it, but remember:
You have to be before you can do, and you
have to do before you can have.
This is number four of the simple steps.
To sum up:
Step one:
Personal Alone Time (take time to think)
Step two:
Values and Principles (your compass to guide you)
Step three:
Dreams and Visions (see it in your mind’s eye before you achieve it)
Step four:
Mission and Purpose (your reason for being on this planet)
I hope that you will continue to look
forward to my free monthly e-letter and that you will benefit from it. If

Subject: IDEAS ON HOW TO HELP YOU AND YOUR PEOPLE TO GROW AND
BECOME MORE PRODUCTIVE
Last month I shared with you Step Two of Eight
Simple Steps to Life, True Success and Happiness.
Step One was
Personal Alone Time (PAT) – time for you to really think things through
and write them down in your Journal. Take time to think – it is a source
of power.
Step Two was
about having Values and Principles. Good values and principles work like a
compass on our lives, giving us direction and purpose, and guiding us on
our way. Develop powerful values and principals to guide your life.
The Third Step is
Dreams and Visions.
In the Good Book it states “when the old
men no longer dream dreams and the young men lose their vision, the people
perish”.
I see so many people “perish” – in the
sense that they do not reach their full potential. The majority of people
do not dream of their own success, of the type of person they want to be,
or what they really want to do, and what they want to have.
BE – DO – HAVE
Most people spend more time planning their
annual holiday than they do planning their life. Dream about the life you
want. Take time to dream. Dream of what you want your family life to be,
what shape your career will take, what type of business you want, and what
you want to achieve in your life.
Sit down somewhere quiet and peaceful, where
you will not be interrupted, and dream and visualise. See it in your mind,
the type of person you want to be: loveable, considerate, positive,
caring, faithful, healthy, full of vitality. A person with passion, being
the best you can be. An achiever. Take time to write your thoughts down in
your Journal. Take time to think it all through. Take time to dream – it
is hitching your wagon to a star.
To sum up:
Step One –
Personal Alone Time (time to think)
Step Two –
Values and Principles (your compass to guide you)
Step Three –
Dreams and Visions (see it in your mind’s eye before you achieve it)
I hope that you will continue to look
forward to my free monthly e-letter and that you will benefit from it. If

Subject: HOW TO HELP YOU AND YOUR PEOPLE TO GROW AND BECOME MORE
PRODUCTIVE
Last month I shared with you step one of Eight
Simple Steps to Life, True Success and Happiness – Personal Alone
Time: taking time to think is a very powerful source of inspiration, and I
recommend that you carry a journal with you to record any insights gained
during these meditation periods.
The Second Step
– Values and Principles
Our personal values and principles are the
guiding posts towards whatever we wish to achieve. Like the roots of a
tree, they form a solid foundation for our future growth. A well-known
phrase regarding computers is “garbage in, garbage out”. This applies
equally to our personal lives. Our values and principles guide our
decisions, pointing us towards the right direction.
It is well worth thinking about your basic
values and principles during your Personal Alone Time, and honestly
admitting to yourself your strengths and weaknesses. Once again, writing
these down can be of great help.
I hope that you will continue to look
forward to my free monthly e-letter and that you will benefit from it. If
you cannot wait - why not 'phone me now - I will be happy to talk with you
and explain my concepts - there's no charge! If you prefer not to receive

Thank you for your time - the third e-letter
will be sent out in a month's time and will deal specifically with the 3rd
Step in my Eight Simple Steps to Life, True Success
and Happiness - I am sure that it will be of interest.

Subject: How to help people, staff, managers, business owners and
organisations manage their lives, businesses and careers more effectively.
Over the next few weeks I am going to share
with you ideas on how to motivate yourself and others by using my Eight
Simple Steps to Life, True Success and Happiness.
Step One
My first question when I am talking to people is, do you have your diary
with you? The answer is usually “yes”, and I ask what goes in that
diary? The answer is “my appointments”.
Then I ask “do you have appointments with
yourself?” - and to my amazement the majority answer “no, why should
we?”
One of the most important things we can do
is to make time for ourselves to think about some very important
questions, ones which must be answered if we are to live a successful
life.
1. What kind of person do I want to be? (As
you are going to live with this person, it’s a very important question)
2. What kind of life do I want?
3. If I am going to do something meaningful
with my life, what do I want to do?
4. When my life ends, what legacy would I
leave behind? (And I do not mean in monetary terms)
Very important questions to ask oneself –
very thought provoking. Invest some time in writing out the answers to
these four questions.
The first step in our Eight Simple Steps
to Life, True Success and Happiness is:
PERSONAL ALONE TIME
Take time to think – it is a very
powerful source of inspiration.
Have a wonderful Personal Alone Time.
The second step will be explained in the
next message – watch out for it, its really good.
I hope that you will continue to look
forward to my free monthly e-letter and that you will benefit from it. If
you cannot wait - why not 'phone me now - I will be happy to talk with you
and explain my concepts - there's no charge! If you prefer not to receive
my e-letter's simply click on the 'Reply' box, type 'Remove' in the
subject box and then click on 'Send'.
Please feel free to forward this e-letter to
others or better still get them to request their own copy; put 'Subscribe'
in the subject box and send to: e-letter1@lifemanagementservices.co.uk
Thank you for your time - the second
e-letter will be sent out in a couple of week's time and will deal
specifically with the 2nd Step in my Eight Simple
Steps to Life, True Success and Happiness - I hope that it will be
of great interest.
